Before the Flood is now being streamed on the National Geographic website. It is free to watch, which in an age of rampant consumerism, is a rare thing indeed.
Filmmaker Fisher Stevens’s latest with Leonardo DiCaprio is a giant leap from Al Gore’s An Inconvenient Truth, which did a lot to bring the climate debate to the fore. Before the Flood documents the DiCaprio journey as he travels to countries which are experiencing first hand, the effects of Climate Change.
It documents his fears and truths about the subject and is also honest about his initial lack of knowledge about climate change. The movie is well filmed and edited. It does well to make this complex science understandable to viewers who wouldn’t necessary take an interest. At an hour and forty minutes, it’s not a lot of time out of your day, and I urge you to watch it, share it and discuss it.
