Great Cities – Barcelona

Lamps of Barcelona
“The world is a book and those who do not travel read only one page” – St Augustine
Travelling around the world for work and photography, you get to visit amazing places with welcoming people from diverse cultures, and with thousands of photographs in the bag, I thought I’d share some of my favourite cities with you. Cities that have opened my eyes to what great creatures we are when we put our minds to it. The first in the series is one of my all-time favourite cities – Barcelona,
Barcelona is the capital of the autonomous community of Catalonia in Spain as well as the second most populated community in the country. It’s a tourist’s paradise with incredible architecture, vibrant streets and inhabitants, tasty Mediterranean cuisine and years of history for you to absorb as you wander around.
I have visited the city on three occasions in my life and will always go back to enjoy the hospitality, culture and colours of this typical European city. You don’t have to be an art aficionado to appreciate the works of Gaudi, Dali and others who hail from the city. Their work is everywhere to be seen alongside some of the most inspiring street art found in Europe.
Below are a few of the hundreds of photographs I have taken on my walks. One of my favourites places on the planet
“A city isn’t so unlike a person. They both have the marks to show they have many stories to tell. They see many faces. They tear things down and make new again.” ― Rasmenia Massoud, Broken Abroad

Great post and a wonderful trip down memory lane!
I love your photos of Barcelona. I’m going to be there for a month in April. It’s interesting that I have some of the same shots that you’ve posted. On this trip I’m looking forward to doing some exposure bracketing at the Sagrada Familia and some of the other churches, as well as wildlife photography. I’d like to catch a green parrot in flight.
Hi, Dave. It is just such a great European, and World City, and not difficult to get lost in the art and atmosphere. I’m jealous that you are going to spend so long there. Safe travels and good light…
