Lake Como, Italy. A short trip report
When I found out that my lovely wife was shooting a wedding at the Villa del Balbianello on Lake Como I was on my best behaviour to get picked to assist her on the weekend away. I mean, who wouldn’t want a weekend away to the place where scenes from Star Wars and James Bond were filmed. I had helped her on a previous destination wedding in Spain earlier that year and so had to be on my best behaviour to make the cut ahead of friends who were keen to muscle in.
I made the cut once again and so we headed off for the 4-day trip. Staying at a fantastic B&B in Lenno, which is just around the corner from the villa, we spent the first day scouting sites and taking photos. It is such a tranquil and calming place as you walk around the edges of the lake watching the ferries and water taxis journey to small alcoves of civilisation wedged against the mountains.
The lake reminds me of so many of the great lakes of northern Europe with the calm waters sandwiched in by tall craggy mountains. People tend to live in small villages perched on the sides of these mountains and have beautiful views from all vantage points in their village.
