Black and White – King of Beasts

Black and White of the king of beasts

While I get ready for my trip to India (Tadoba and Bandhavgarh National Parks), I’ve been playing with Lightroom to create some black and white images. This is an easy task to get distracted with, and I’ll continue to post over the next few weeks.

Candidate No.1 has to be this big chap that I ran into in Kruger at the end of 2005. I’d just switch over from shooting with film to using digital and was using the Canon 20d for the first time. It was late in the afternoon, and I was rushing back to make the gate closure for the evening. Of course, I just had to bump into a pride of lions. That is the way of National Parks in South Africa. They keep the best encounters for twenty minutes before the camp gates close.

The beautiful male was with three strong females that were also slowly waking up. Their bellies looked empty, so a night of hunting was on the cards. How I wish I could have stayed a little longer

HERE is another black and white conversion I did. The clown of the savannah, the wildebeest or Gnu
